How TritonWear Teams Can Help With College Swimming Recruiting

Written by Alexandra Petala | 06/07/21 3:46 PM

The current college swimming recruiting process is based on competition results, and although that might seem pretty straightforward it often feels daunting. Now more than ever, the lack of racing due to the pandemic has complicated things, even more, leaving parents, coaches and swimmers perplexed. How can swimmers get their foot through the door aside from their racing times, and how can recruiting coaches make decisions on such limited resources?

In an effort to try and rethink the recruiting process and how we can help coaches, parents and swimmers, we designed TritonWear teams to help bridge the gap. TritonWear teams work both ways.

Recruiters can create a roster team within TritonWear and track their candidates’ progress to find a true fit.

And swimmers can invite and share their training insights with recruiting coaches from colleges of their choice.

What are the benefits of using TritonWear for college swimming recruiting?

  1. Ease of use

  2. Track from anywhere in the world

  3. Access training insights to find a true fit

1. Ease of Use

Recruiting coaches can create a team or as many teams as they want and invite candidates to join. Once a swimmer joins, recruiters are ready to access their training data. In addition, any coach, administrator, and support staff on these team(s) can also access athlete insights.

As for the athlete, if the college team does not already have a team within the TritonWear app, the athlete can create their own team and invite recruiters to join. The user has complete control over their privacy, for example, if they allow other athletes in that team to see their name, Triton Scores, and activity details or not.

2. Track From Anywhere In The World

There is no need to worry about travelling budgets, pandemic restrictions or limited resources. With the TritonWear app, recruiters, coaches and admins can access athlete insights from anywhere in the world and save both money and time.

As for athletes, with the current recruiting process in place, the coach can visit the swimmer in training once (in most cases) and have a conversation with the parents. By sharing access to training insights, the coach gets a far more comprehensive overview of who the swimmer is in the water.

3. Access To Training Insights To Find A True Fit

The current process is like hiring someone off of a screening call, and as we all know, a racing time does not paint the complete picture. Furthermore, the access to training data like skill execution, training intensity, and readiness to train enables coaches to make better-informed decisions.

What insights does TritonWear offer?

Triton Score

Triton Score ranks performance for every workout based on the athlete’s Readiness, Focus and Intensity. When paired with TritonWear Teams, Triton Score makes for an easy-to-use tracking system. With a quick glance at the Triton Scores, the coach will know how the entire roster is performing and identify which athletes are on track without going through mountains of data.

Readiness, Focus & Intensity Scores

Readiness, Focus and Intensity will offer a more detailed overview of the athlete’s training trends and how they got to where they are in their current best times. In detail:

  • The Readiness Score gives an overview of the athlete’s readiness to perform. It tracks load change over time and shows whether the user is undertraining, overtraining, or training safely.
  • The Focus Score summarizes how the swimmer executed their technical skills for all the different swimming phases (overwater, underwater and transitions) compared to a benchmark of their past performances.
  • Intensity shows how hard and how consistently the swimmer trains. The Intensity score is calculated using metrics like energy system usage, distance, and work vs rest.

Key Takeaway

TritonWear Teams helps recruiters identify which athletes would be a great match for the college team before investing a ton of time and money. It connects athletes and coaches from anywhere in the world and helps make the recruiting process easier, friendlier and far more insightful.
